Volunteer Opportunities
Friday Night Pre-Registration
Friday, May 12th from 4:30-7:30 pm. Be willing to register participants that come in Friday evening. Involves finding participants on excel spreadsheet, distributing correct t-shirt sizes, and goodie bags. Will also need to be willing/able to do registration process for anyone who has not pre-registered online. This will involve money handling and balancing and maintaining records. (3 volunteers needed)
Aid Station
Saturday, May 13th from 8:00 am-11:00 am. Set up, maintenance, and tear down of aid station, located in parking lot behind South Street clinic. You will need to make sure that water cups and food are stocked for runners/walkers throughout the race. (3 volunteers needed)
Hospitality Set Up
Friday, May 12th from 5:30-7:00 pm. Make sure Hospitality Room is stocked, set up and ready for Saturday morning. (1 volunteer needed)
Hospitality Maintenance & Clean Up
Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am-12:30 pm. Be available in Hospitality Room to make sure it stays clean and keep food/drinks stocked for vendors & volunteers. When event is concluded, be in charge of making sure room gets cleaned and set up for business on Monday morning. (3 volunteers needed).
Race Day Registration
Saturday, May 13th from 6:15-8:30 am. Register participants who did not complete registration Friday night. Involves finding participants on excel spreadsheet, distributing correct t-shirt sizes, and possibly goodie bags (if any are available from the night before). Will also be doing race-day registrations for any runners who want to join. Will involve money handling and balancing and maintaining records (3 volunteers needed)
Awards & Awards Ceremony
Saturday, May 13th from 8:15-10:15 am. Set up table with awards pre-race. Volunteers will be in charge of transporting medals, trophies, and award packages from storage to ceremony set up table and make them look nice. Volunteers will also be in charge of handing out medals to participants and award packages to winners during Awards Ceremony. Will work with Timer to make sure results are posted. (3 volunteers needed)
Health & Resource Fair Set up
Friday, May 12th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Setting up Tables and rearranging lobby for Health & Resource Fair. (3 volunteers needed)
Health & Resource Fair Clean Up
Saturday, May 13th from 12:00-2:00 pm. Taking Down tables, rearranging, and sweeping HS Lobby to be ready for Monday morning. (3 volunteers needed)
Parking Lot Set Up
Saturday, May 13th from 6:00-7:15 am. Be willing to come set up tables, tents, signs, or any other materials needed for race day. (2 volunteers needed)
Parking Lot Clean Up
Saturday, May 13th from 12:15-2:15 pm. Be willing to clean up parking lot of tables, tents, signs, or any trash that may have accumulated during event. (2 volunteers needed)
Timer Assistants/Back Up Time Recorders
Saturday, May 13th from 8:30-10:45 am. Will assist recorder in catching and documenting times as runners cross finish line. Will also assist with data entry of times into printable spreadsheet to post after race. (4 volunteers needed)
Route Set Up
Saturday, 6:00-8:00 am. Will set up comes, signs, trash cans along route. Will also pay attention to cleanliness of route for runners. (4 volunteers needed)
Route Clean Up
Saturday, 10:30a-12:30 pm. Will gather cones, signs, and trash cans and transport back to Hartford Street. Will also pay special attention to any debris left by runners. Will take care to leave route clean for the city after race is completed (4 volunteers needed)
Route Security/Cheerleaders/Information
Saturday, 8:00-10:00 am: Will be stationed along routes, specifically at intersections to provide direction and support to runners/walkers. Will be in charge of making sure traffic is flowing smoothly at assigned intersection and answer any questions walkers/runners may have along the way. (Approx. 40 volunteers needed)
Designated “Last Place” Finishers
Saturday, 8:30-10:00 am. Volunteers will walk route at the back of the pack, both to ensure participants are staying on the route, and to answer any questions participants may have. (4 volunteers needed)
Photographer
Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th during set up, event, and tear down. If you have a photographic eye and the equipment available to provide photography for the event, I am looking for you. Must have camera, memory card, and battery available to take pictures and either send pictures to Race Director or burn pictures to CD to give to Race Director.
General Information Volunteers
Saturday, May 13th from 7:00 am – 12:00n. Volunteers will be stationed at various places to answer any questions from participants or spectators regarding 5K and/or Health & Resource Fair. (4 volunteers needed)
Friday Floater
Friday, May 12th from 5:00-8:00 pm. Volunteers would be available to assist Megan with whatever duties come up during this time frame. You will have no ‘assigned’ station, but rather will be available for any station along route or in any building. Must have access to a vehicle and the availability during entire shift. May include duties such as lifting, transporting materials between locations, or walking the race route. May fill in where other volunteers are missing. (2 volunteers needed).
Saturday Floater
Saturday, May 13th from 6:00-9:00 am AND/OR 9:00 am-12:30 pm. Volunteers would be available to assist Megan with whatever duties come up during this time frame.
